It will be extremely expensive for everyone above 60 and white, and free for everyone else. When I try to remind them that he single handedly changed the course of the Vietnam war, especially during the Tet Offensive, which was actually a huge victory for American forces, but he reported as a loss, and caused the American people to turn on our soldiers that were fighting for our nation.
I am not debating the fact of whether or not we should have been there. I find that fighting other countries civil wars is pretty much always a losing proposition. What I am saying is that the news media since our very beginning has shaped public policy, often on purpose, and probably more often skillfully steered by political parties or a single politician. Case in point, Abe Lincoln, during the American Civil War, and his jailing of leading journalists, and taking over of various newspapers and his work with Horace Greely.
People on the right decry the media's movement to the left. I am only 61, but I can tell them that things have not changed one bit. The media has been liberal at least since I can remember. What bothers me more, is that people my age, after all this time, have not learned to at the very least, take the things that the liberal media say with either a grain of salt, or with their own investigation of the truth, preferably via primary sources.
There are several sources that claim to be fact checkers. But I don't trust any of them. I trust myself, to check my own facts. If something is important enough for me to either repeat it to someone, or to believe it, then it is important enough for me to check it for myself.
But then again, why bother? I can turn on the idiot tube, and get ever more mindless "reality programming" and keep up with the family of the week, or see who is trying to marry someone from a different nation, in order for them to move here. Except for 2 things, I have enough reality in my life as it is, and that social distancing that the government was trying to push on everyone? Yeah, I practiced that my entire life, and have gotten pretty good at it, so the government can leave me the hell alone. Because the older I get, the less of a threat things like life in prison or the death penalty are to me. And the easier it is to take a stand to protect my kids and grandkids, for principles.
tlk78@yahoo.comPigpen51https://www.blogger.com/profile/01683463718454987063noreply@blogger.com
