The lowering of flags for the victims of mass murders is frivolous stupid virtue signalling and propaganda. Gov. "Jolly" Ned Lamont did it first for the shooting in Monterey Park, and it seems (p)Resident Gopey Dopey Joey Poopy-Pants followed suit today. My flag, however stays up at full height, with my "Times Up" flag (that has a striking, not coiled serpent) below the US Flag.
The mass lowering of the flags helps keep the wound fresh and acts as a beacon to the easily swayed that maybe they should give up their own rights to stop the actions of the fucked in the head or violent feral animal.
There are other reasons I refuse to lower my flag on the declaration of a scumbag politician. The death of a foreign dignitary for one, like the recently deceased Queen of England. We won a revolution so I wouldn't have to care, after all.
Glad someone else bitches about the flag at half mast. My apartment complex did that at the bitch queens offing and the latest mass murder and I questioned her about it and even scratched up the rules and reasons for lowering the flag , didn't matter. The pResident, governator and the ceo of the apartment holding conglomerate said so...fuck 'em to hell.
ReplyDelete@Cederq: It is the abuse of USC 4 Chapter 1 Section 10 that gives a POTUS the ability to modify the flying of the flag.
Delete"Any rule or custom pertaining to the display of the flag of the United States of America, set forth herein, may be altered, modified, or repealed, or additional rules with respect thereto may be prescribed, by the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States, whenever he deems it to be appropriate or desirable; and any such alteration or additional rule shall be set forth in a proclamation."
Unfortunately in these modern times, the flag is used as virtue signalling, not honor. I fly mine respecting the old traditions. Just like I still believe in The Constitution as written, prescribing the sentence of death by hanging for treason.
I stopped lowering my flag especially for politicians, even before bidet was selected except in a few cases where they were classy people.
ReplyDeleteWhenever it was during the scamdemic, I saw that flags were at half staff and I asked my wife if when knew why. She said it was for the victims of covid.
ReplyDeleteYeah, that sure devalues lowering the flag for the guy that dove on a hand grenade to save his platoon........
.... or the firefighter that dies saving a child, the cop that dies trying to break up a domestic, the EMT struck and killed at an accident scene on the side of the interstate, the pilot that is lost fighting wildfires....
ReplyDeleteIt devalues and diminishes them all. But #LIBTURDS will never understand that the same way they can't understand why unconstitutional gun control doesn't decrease violent crime.
