"Then you flew your Learjet up to Nova Scotia, to see the total eclipse of the sun."
from "You're So Vain" by Carly Simon
The original studio version. Love that album cover photo. I always thought she was pretty hot.
I'm not Carly's mystery man and I don't have a Learjet, but my wife and I will be heading for St. Albans, Vermont on Monday to experience totality for ourselves. A little over 4 hours one way, but it will be a fun road trip and we'll be taking our 3 dogs with us. It will be interesting to see how they react.
Here is an excellent live version from aboard the QE2 in 2018. Still lookin' and soundin' good IMHO. The lead guitarist absolutely nails the guitar solo on that black & white Stratocaster.
They are talking the end of the world, worried about all the people that "may" travel to places under total eclipse. I figure, screw it, we are really close so I will set the scope up on the driveway and have access to cold beer and a toilet.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: People have thought bad things were going to occur since ancient times. OK, eclipses have happened countless times and nothing happened. So dumb. I read yesterday some dope trying to correlate the date of the eclipse 4-8 to the 4.8 earthquake in New Jersey. I think they've seen one too many "End of the World" movies myself.
DeleteThe last eclipse I walked out the back door & looked up. That's all the effort I gave. Still can't figure out the big deal with this one.
ReplyDelete@Birdchaser: The only reason we are making the trip is because its not too far away and its my regular day off. My wife actually suggested the trip. I think the big driver of the hub-bub is social media
DeleteAccording to rumor, simon was singing about multi-billionaire homosexual predator david geffen.
ReplyDeletegeffen, along with multi-billionaire spielberg and multi-billionaire katzenberg, are the hollywood owners of DreamWorks movie producer.
.
Anything coming out of hollywood needs their approval.
Anything critical of the tribe never gets made.
.
An aside:
According to biographers and his employees, geffen is profoundly mentally ill.
@LargeMarge: Interesting, I never heard that name bandied about. I had only heard names like Warren Beatty, Mick Jagger, or James Taylor.
